Custodian with special responsibility for the bar

West Road Concert Hall and Faculty of Music

Salary£18,734–£21,605 plus 10% shift allowance
Start date: 27 June 2016
Quote Reference: GT08800

The University of Cambridge's largest performing venue, West Road Concert Hall, is looking for a Custodian to join a team of three Custodians that provide facilities management for the Music Faculty and West Road Concert Hall, backstage support to artists, support for teaching staff and students, cleaning supervision, and security for all users.  In addition, the post has particular responsibility for the bar and you will manage the Concert Hall bar and storeroom.  As well as serving behind the bar for almost all events, you will organise and supervise a rota of bar staff and liaise with other Concert Hall staff and users of the premises to ensure the bar’s smooth running.  We are looking for an individual with proven experience and dependability in a premises-related job where solo working has been the norm, a willingness to work at weekends and in the evenings on a flexible shift pattern, plus endless tact and patience. A friendly, customer-oriented 'can do' attitude is essential.  In addition to the basic salary, a shift allowance, worth roughly a further 10% of salary is offered to reflect the evening/weekend/bank holiday work required.  If you have excellent communication and organisational skills this will prove a challenging and fulfilling position.

Further information about the Faculty is available at: www.mus.cam.ac.uk. This is a full-time permanent position and is based in the Faculty of Music in central Cambridge.

Please complete the online recruitment process which can be found here.  This will route you to the University’s Web Recruitment System, where you will need to register for an account (if you have not already) and log in before completing the online application form.  Further particulars about the position can be found here.

Applications must be submitted by midnight (UK time) on Monday 16 May 2016. Interviews will be held on Tuesday 24 May 2016. If you have any questions about this vacancy or the application process contact Ms George Unsworth, Concert Hall Manager, gu202@cam.ac.uk.
