Alan Street (BA York, MA Cantab, MMus London, PhD Exeter) is Associate Professor of Music Theory at the University of Kansas and Associate Editor of the journal Music Analysis. Formerly a member of the teaching staff at Keele and Exeter universities and University College Dublin, he has also held research posts at Clare College, University of Cambridge, and Yale University (where he worked with Allen Forte). From 2008–09 he was Visiting Slee Professor of Music Theory at SUNY Buffalo. A member of the Editorial Board of Music Analysis since 1994, he served as Editor from 2005–11 following an earlier period as Critical Forum Editor (1998–2004). The author of numerous articles on aspects of musical and critical theory, his most recent published work includes a contribution to the symposium Music and Narrative since 1900 edited by Michael L. Klein and Nicholas Reyland, and the Cambridge Companion to the Symphony, edited by Julian Horton. His Visiting Fellowship at Clare Hall will be spent working on a forthcoming monograph, Representing Schoenberg: Modernity and After.
