Edward Hall is a current student on the MPhil course with particular emphasis on music and science. His research this year, under the supervision of Ian Cross, will be investigating how listeners perceive motifs throughout a piece of music, how motifs contribute to structural coherence, and the implications findings may have for analysis and music cognition. As well as this current thesis, Edward has a broad range of interests in other areas of both music and the sciences.
Edward completed undergraduate studies in music at King’s College London, graduating with first class honours. He is a member of Wolfson College. In addition to his academic studies, Edward is a keen viola player and has participates in a wide range of orchestras and other ensembles.
