Helen started her library career many years ago, qualifying at Loughborough University and becoming a Chartered Member of the profession a few years later.
She has worked in many different types of library. Starting from her local public library, followed by a short –term placement at the University of Harare in Zimbabwe, her first main professional post was in the King’s Fund library in London, specialising in health services. A move to East Anglia brought employment as a reference librarian in both Suffolk and Cambridgeshire public libraries.
Prior to coming to the Pendlebury, Helen worked as Local Government Librarian for Cambridgeshire County Council, and then on the University’s Downing Street site at the Haddon Library for Archaeology and Anthropology.
Helen works full-time at the Pendlebury, and with a husband and three children, spare time is often in short supply, but she does manage to fit in swimming and playing squash, and making cakes.
