last modified May 04, 2015 02:42 PM

During a recent visit to the Gheorghe Dima Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca (Romania), Nicholas Cook was awarded the Academy’s degree of Doctor Honoris Causa; previous recipients include Iannis Xenakis, György Kurtág, Krzysztof Penderecki, and Yehudi Menuhin, but this is the first occasion when an international musicologist has been honoured in this way.  Cook took part in a symposium entitled ‘Seeing sound, hearing images’ and also lectured on studying music as performance.
