Academic staffing structures are more complex at Cambridge than in most other universities, because Faculty teachers and researchers represent only one part of a very large community of scholars, teachers, and musicians mainly based in colleges.
- Academic staff: includes the Faculty’s professors, readers, senior lecturers, lecturers, affiliated lecturers, and honorary appointees.
- Research staff: includes Faculty- and college-based research fellows with staff members employed on Faculty-based research projects.
- Directors of Studies: organise teaching at college level. Some (but not all) are Faculty academic staff.
- Graduate Students: Current taught and research graduate students
