Performance Assistant (Fixed Term)


Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 15 months in the first instance. Performance Assistant in the Faculty of Music (Part-time, 22 hours per week)

Salary: £21,843 to £25,298, Grade 4 (pro-rata for 60% of full time) Limit of tenure: 01 03 2017 to 31 07 2018

The Music Faculty has a vacancy for a part-time Performance Assistant to provide support for performance-related activities in the Faculty of Music and for the Cambridge University Musical Society (CUMS). The Performance Assistant will offer administrative support to the Performance Manager, the Director of Performance and the Director of the Cambridge Centre for Performance Studies.

The Performance Assistant will assist the Performance Manager in planning, marketing and delivering performance-related activities in the Faculty of Music and for CUMS. S/he will assist in the organisation of concerts, performance workshops and masterclasses and will support the work of the Faculty's and CUMS' ensembles. The role holder will also support the teaching of performance studies across all parts of the Music Tripos. The duties are wide-ranging, including administrative tasks associated with the organisation of performance events.

The role holder will have excellent communication and organisational skills and will have experience of planning, marketing and delivering performance-related events. S/he will be educated to at least A-level standard and will have excellent IT, communication and organisational skills. It is essential that the role holder is able to multi-task, work to tight deadlines and remain calm and courteous under pressure. S/he will have experience of organising musical events, concerts, workshops etc and will have experience of working with musicians.

This position is for 22 hours per week (60% of the full-time equivalent). Working arrangements can be flexible, for example the role holder could choose to work shorter hours over five working days, but a willingness to work irregular hours on occasion to support evening/weekend events is also required.
