Annette Vande Gorne studied at the Royal Conservatories of Mons and of Brussels, and at ULB. She has taught the history of music, harmony, piano and choral singing.

In 1982 she founded Musiques & Recherches and launched the festival L'Espace du Son. She also founded the Metamorphoses composition competition, the Espace du son spatialisation competition, the group and acousmonium Influx (100 loudspeakers), and an electrodoc documentation centre on electroacoustic music.

She was Professor of acousmatic composition and spatialization (Liège, Brussels, Mons conservatories) from 1986 to 2016.

In 2000, she founded the electroacoustic section of the conservatory of Mons. She is a performer in spatialization, with more than 700 concerts, conferences and master classes spanning her international career.

Her work has been recognised by several awards: SABAM Prize 1985 & 1995; Schaeffer 2004, DEGEM Thomas Seelig 2021, Octave for contemporary music Belgium 2021.

In 2022, she set up the Annette Vande Gorne Foundation to support acousmatic music, young composers and the preservation of her works.

She is passionate about nature, physics, writing about space, voices, words, meaning, and renewing the link with the past of artful music.
