Carola Bauckholt

Composer Carola Bauckholt  was born in Krefeld in 1959 and studied with Mauricio Kagel at the Cologne University of Music, having worked for several years at the Theater am Marienplatz (TAM) in Krefeld. Since 2015 she has been teaching composition at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz, Austria. She is a member of the Akademie der Künste in Berlin and North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences, Humanities and the Arts. A central concern of her work is reflection on the phenomena of perception and understanding. Her compositions often mix elements of visual art, music theatre and concert music. To do so, she likes to make use of noisy sounds, which are often produced by unusual means and are allowed to unfold freely.
