Soprano Juliet Fraser specialises in the gnarly edges of contemporary classical music. Internationally recognised as a committed interpreter of new music, Juliet regularly appears as a guest soloist with ensembles Musikfabrik, Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Modern and Quatuor Bozzini, as a duo with pianist Mark Knoop, and alone on stage in works for voice and electronics. She is an active commissioner of new repertoire and has worked particularly closely with composers Laurence Crane, Pascale Criton, Catherine Lamb, Cassandra Miller and Rebecca Saunders. Juliet is artistic director of eavesdropping festival in London and programme director of VOICEBOX, a new initiative for singers wanting to specialise in contemporary vocal performance. She has taught at Britten Pears Young Artist Programme, Darmstadt Ferienkurse, Hochschule der Künste Bern and Royaumont Académie Voix Nouvelles. In 2023 she was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Music by Southampton University.
