Online Music Subject Masterclass

Our next Subject Masterclass will take place on Wednesday 1 October 2025, from 4.15-7.00pm.

Subject Masterclasses are subject-specific events that offer students in Year 12 (S5 for Scotland, Year 13 for NI, or equivalent) the chance to experience typical undergraduate teaching at the University of Cambridge, and to learn more about a topic of interest. The events are designed for students looking to apply in October 2026, including mature students.

The Subject Masterclass will include:

• Two Taster lectures delivered by Cambridge academic staff:
  • Dr Stephen Wilford, ‘Popular Music, Orientalism and Exoticism'
  • Prof David Trippett, '‘Signs and Leitmotifs, or how do we know anything?’
• Q&A with subject experts 
• A subject specific introduction to the application process 
• Student life insights from current undergraduates
