Ottoman Music Workshops with Baha Yetkin

Learn about the musical traditions of Turkey and the Ottoman Empire with master ud player Baha Yetkin. The workshops will introduce a range of musical genres, including the chamber music of the Ottoman court, the ritual music of the Mevlevi Sufi order, and the popular urban music of Istanbul.

Baha Yetkin has performed at the Royal Albert Hall, Vortex Jazz Club, Green Note, and Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall. He has released several singles and albums of original compositions and improvisations, including The Pearl (2019) and The Turkish Oud (2021).

The workshops are free of charge, but registration is necessary. The workshops are open to all students and staff at the University of Cambridge as well as members of the public. Participants do not need to have any previous experience. Instrumentalists and singers are welcome and participants can attend all three or just one of the workshops.
