Kaija Saariaho Nocturne
Debussy Sonata for cello and piano
Kaija Saariaho Light and Matter (World premiere tour)
Faure Piano Trio in D minor, Op. 120

All composers are dreamers. Kaija Saariaho conjures sonic images of magnetic power through her music and French composers, Faure and Debussy, power of suggestion and gift of lyricism, colour and rhythm result in sound worlds that are both luminous and dazzling. In this programme we hear one of Debussy’s finest chamber works and Faure’s profound Piano Trio alongside Saariaho’s Nocturne for solo violin and a new piano trio commissioned by Britten Sinfonia and Wigmore Hall.
