Faculty of Music

Emily Howard

Emily Howard is one of the most vibrant and dynamic composers of her generation. Her music first came to widespread critical attention in 2008 with Magnetite, commissioned by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and recently released on the NMC record label. Since then, highlights have included Calculus of the Nervous System, and Torus, premiered at the BBC Proms in 2012 and 2016, and the operas Zapotek! and Ada Sketches.

The Faculty’s series of Composers’ Workshops is open to students in all years of the undergraduate music course, to Master’s and doctoral students, and anyone else with an interest in the creation of new music. Because space is limited, please email Richard Causton (rjc94@cam.ac.uk) if you are not a Faculty member and wish to attend.
