Composer's Workshop: Márton Illés

The Hungarian Márton Illés, winner of many international awards including the highly prestigious Siemens Foundation Prize, is one of the most dynamic composers of his generation. In his music, exact calculation and risk are held in a precise balance so that ‘rationality is confronted with a powerful and incisive sound-world and explosive energy’ (Wolfgang Rihm). In this very special workshop he introduces his music and discusses in detail some of his most recent work.
