Chroma is one of the most dynamic new music ensembles working in the UK at the moment and this programme presents an Italian programme with the UK première of Fabio Vacchi’s hauntingly beautiful Dai Calanchi di Sabbiuno, an elegy to the victims of a wartime massacre in Bologna. Richard Causton’s Phoenix (the recipient of a Royal Philharmonic Society Award) is programmed alongside works by one of his teachers and one of his students: a brand new work from Cambridge alumnus Andrew Thomas and Arpège by Franco Donatoni, one of the leading lights in post war Italian music.
