Music for a Time of Discord

The French Wars of Religion, and the consequent displacement of thousands of people, was one of the most influential political and cultural episodes of the Early Modern Period. This concert presents rarely heard music from the period, including extended settings of the Calvin Psalter by Huguenot composer Claude Le Jeune; and sets this music in a historical context with readings from contemporary commentators.

Music performed by the Choir of St Catharine’s College.
