Songs of Love, War and Melancholy

Jacques-François Gallay Works for natural horn and piano

Anneke Scott, natural horn
Steven Devine, piano

Considered the last great natural horn virtuoso, Gallay was a leading 19th-century soloist as well as principal horn of the influential Théâtre-Italien in Paris. In this lecture-recital Anneke Scott and Steven Devine discuss and perform works by Gallay and his contemporaries, supporting Gallay's belief that the horn was ‘another voice which sings’.
