Peter Harrison appointed to Faculty of Music

The Faculty is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Peter Harrison as our new University Lecturer in Music and Science from September 2021.

Peter first came to the University of Cambridge as an organ scholar at Clare College, where he studied Mathematics and then Music. After postgraduate studies at Goldsmiths, University of London and Queen Mary, University of London, he took up a postdoctoral research position at the Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics in Frankfurt, Germany. His published work centres on computational approaches to music cognition, covering topics such as statistical learning, creativity, musical pleasure, consonance, voice leading, harmonic syntax, and individual differences in musical abilities.
