New CD from Richard Causton

A Land So Luminous

A new CD including music by Richard Causton, Reader in Composition at the Faculty of Music, has recently been issued on the Prima Facie record label (PFCD051 - see http://primafacie.ascrecords.com/). The CD features the Continuum Ensemble conducted by Philip Headlam with soloists Mary Bevan (soprano), Lisa Nelsen (flute) and Douglas Finch (piano) in performances of Causton's Rituals of Hunting and Blooding, Night Piece, Threnody, Sleep and 'Non mi comport male'. It has already attracted some positive reaction in the press:

"Soprano Mary Bevan is the soloist in Causton’s powerfully sombre Threnody. His Sleep and Mozart-inspired Night Piece have taut beauty, while Non mi comporto male slides wittily and ain’t misbehavingly into Fats Waller."
