The Faculty is delighted to announce that three of our senior members have been recognised in the current round of Senior Academic Promotions. Richard Causton, whose 2019 piece Ik Zeg:Nu for orchestra was selected by BBC Radio 3 for the International Rostrum of Composers, becomes Professor of Composition. David Trippett, director of the European Research Council-funded project Sound and Materialism in the 19th Century, and whose orchestrated edition of Liszt's opera, Sardanapalo, was premièred in 2018, becomes Reader in Music. Ben Walton, whose most recent two books are Rossini, 1868-2018: la musica e il mondo (2018) and Nineteenth-Century Opera and the Scientific Imagination (2019) becomes Reader in Music History.
