Prof. Susan Rankin has been invited to deliver a prestigious series of five lectures as part of the Lyell Readership in Bibliography at Oxford University. This series, endowed by a bequest from the solicitor, book collector and bibliographer James Patrick Ronaldson Lyell (1871–1948), will take place at the Bodleian Library, Oxford, in May 2022. The event has run annually since 1952, but the 2022 series marks only the second year in which music has been selected as a theme. Susan Rankin’s chosen focus is ‘From Memory to Written Record: English Liturgical Books and Musical Notations, 900–1150’.
