About
Supakorn is currently reading for his PhD in Music Theory and Analysis at Faculty of Music at the University of Cambridge, under the supervision of Professor Julian Horton and Professor Ian Cross. Prior to coming to Cambridge, Supakorn studied Master of Music in Musicology at King's College London (degree awarded with Merit in January 2016.) His Master's dissertation, '(Re)evaluating Réti,' under the supervision of Dr Michael Fend, examines the applicability of Rudolph Réti's treatise 'The Thematic Process in Music (1951)' as well as revising the value of twentieth-century approach of thematic analysis in general. Supakorn completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Piano Performance (First-Class Honours with Gold Medal; 4.00 GPA) from Chulalongkorn University (2014,) under the supervision of Associate Professor Tongsuang Israngkun. He also holds five music diplomas from London College of Music (FLCM, LLCM,) Trinity College London (LMusTCL, ATCL,) and the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (DipABRSM.) He currently resides in Cambridge, UK. In his spare time, he likes to read novels (especially those by J.R.R. Tolkien,) watch and critically analyse Japanese anime & Hollywood films, listen to all sorts of music ranging from Gregorian Chant to Owl City, meditate on Zen Buddhism, eat white chocolate and ice-cream, brew and drink tea, buy books and plush toys, as well as trying out fountain pens and ink.
