Faculty of Music

I am a PhD candidate working under the supervision of Dr. Stephen Wilford. My research focuses on South African music video and national identity in the 1980s and 1990s, considering the form’s distribution and consumption, as well as its interaction with and negotiation of political upheaval during the late apartheid period.

I hold a Bachelors and Masters degree in Musicology from the University of Stellenbosch. My broader research interests include popular music, digitality, archives, and identity performativity.
