Anna Pensaert is Head of Music Collections at the University Library and the Pendlebury Library of Music. She studied musicology at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and the Technische Universität Berlin before obtaining a postgraduate degree in Library Science at the Universiteit Antwerpen. She chose to become a music librarian during her period of music study and has since focused her professional interest upon music bibliography and the specific needs of music libraries and their users. Anna began her professional career in 1996 at CeBeDeM (the Belgian Documentation Centre for Contemporary music) before moving on to become Chief Librarian at the Royal Flemish Conservatoire of Antwerp (1997-2003). Both institutions hold important collections of 19th- and 20th-century Belgian and Flemish music and this has been a principal area of interest throughout her earlier professional career. As a music librarian she is an active member of the International Association of Music Libraries (IAML) where she is Vice President and Chair of the Advocacy Committee. She has been Faculty Librarian since January 2004 and Head of Music Collections since April 2010.
