Title

Art of Sound: Creativity in Film Sound and Electroacoustic Music

How do sounds communicate, make us feel, and tell stories? Over the past three years, Prof. Andrew Knight-Hill has been researching creative practice in sound, undertaking interviews and dialogues with Composers and Sound Designers from across European and Hollywood (in collaboration with Dr Emma Margetson) to understand how and why professionals make the decisions that they do.

From Game of Thrones, to the Revenant. From Normal People to soundscapes of the rainforest. We'll discuss how and why sounds are chosen by creatives and what their impact is upon us.

In this lecture, Prof. Knight-Hill will share a "sneak peek" preview to this, as yet, unpublished book. and share some practical examples from his recent compositional works which extend instrumental recordings with electronics and recorded sound.
