Faculty of Music

2.00pm, Recital Room at the Faculty of Music

Julian Warburton

As Principal Percussionist with the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group and Professor of Percussion at the Guildhall School of Music, Julian Warburton has given numerous world premieres and worked closely with many leading composers and conductors. Here he shares some insights into writing for percussion and offers practical guidance to composers on how to use it effectively.

The Faculty’s series of Composers’ Workshops is open to students in all years of the undergraduate music course, as well as masters and doctoral students, indeed anyone with an interest in the creation of new music. Because space is limited, please email Richard Causton (rjc94@cam.ac.uk) if you are not a Faculty member and wish to attend.
