Faculty of Music

Following on from the online class earlier this term, this class is a hands-on opportunity to experience how performance anxiety may further your artistic development. One-to-one coaching in a small group setting will explore how individual expressions of anxiety signal hitherto forgotten or suppressed desires about performing, or the emergence of new performer-selves.

Martin Lawrence studied physics at the University of York before pursuing a career playing the horn. He has been second horn in the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment since 1995 and also plays with the all the other London-based period instrument orchestras. In addition, he has developed 'Free Your Playing', an approach that looks at physical, mental and creative issues for musicians, which he teaches as a private practice and on courses. He completed his PhD at the Guildhall in 2020.
