LEVERHULME EARLY CAREER FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITIES HOSTED BY THE FACULTY OF MUSIC, UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE
The Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship Internal Competition 2024 will open on the 1st September 2023. The University of Cambridge provides matched funding for successful candidates through its Isaac Newton Trust. If you would like to apply through the University of Cambridge, please submit a draft application to the Faculty of Music by 3pm on THURSDAY 26 OCTOBER 2023 . Applications will initially be scrutinised by the Faculty but the final decision as to whether we can host your application will be made at University level. The deadline for receipt of applications in the University is FRIDAY 17TH NOVEMBER, and we would hope to send you news within four weeks thereafter. If you are successful in the University competitions, we shall ask you to commit to applying through Cambridge alone, and we will work with you to refine your application in advance of the national deadline of 4pm on FRIDAY 23 FEBRUARY 2024.
The documentation we require for LECF applications is as follows. (PLEASE NOTE: these requirements have been recently updated)
Abstract: This account should be given in non-technical terms so as to be easily comprehensible to a non-expert (maximum 100 words). ·
Details of current and past research: Give details of your current and past research experience (maximum 250 words).
Detailed statement of proposed research: This should include aims, objectives, methodology and outcome (e.g. publication plans). Maximum two sides of A4, including bibliographic references, Arial font size 11
Major publications: Please list your publications (maximum one side of A4) under three main headings; ‘In preparation’, ‘Submitted’ and ‘Published’, as appropriate. Please use Arial font size 11.
An academic CV: maximum two sides of A4
Research relevant to your proposal being carried out in the host department: Details of other research being conducted in the host department which is relevant to your own proposed project (maximum 100 words). ·
Additional reasons for selecting your chosen host department and university: Explain any additional reasons for choosing this particular department and university to host your award (maximum 100 words)
Name of proposed mentor
Name and contact details of two referees who have agreed to write on your behalf (one of which should be from beyond Cambridge if you have previously worked or studied here)

Please note that current or previous holders of full-time permanent academic posts in UK universities or comparable institutions, and current or former stipendiary JRFs at Cambridge or Oxford, are not eligible to apply.
