Matthew Machin-Autenrieth is joining the Faculty of Music for three years from October 2014 as a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow. He completed his PhD at Cardiff University, with a thesis on the relationship between flamenco and regionalism in Andalusia. His post-doctoral project is entitled 'Flamenco andalusí: Music, History and Multiculturalism in Andalusia', and explores collaborations between Spanish and North African musicians in the context of current debates regarding immigration, multiculturalism and regional identity.
