Composers' Workshop: Riot Ensemble

This Workshop kickstarts the Faculty's new year-long partnership with the renowned Riot Ensemble. Riot is one of Europe's pre-eminent new music ensembles - "The supergroup of top soloists playing new music" (The Guardian) - whose playing has been described in The Times as “Always impeccable; Entrancing and highly seductive".

We will be joined by the Ensemble's flautist and oboist, who will demonstrate extended techniques on their instruments, play through some of their repertoire, and discuss a variety of compositional approaches to writing effectively for woodwind instruments. This promises to be an exciting and informative hands-on session, with opportunities for students to bring sketches and ideas for future compositions.
